WellFully Builds to Expand Support to Teens
Do you know someone who has been treated for substance abuse, mental health, or behavioral problems? If they are between the ages of 9 and 18 and live in Western South Dakota, chances are they were treated at Wellfully, the only residential group care home and residential addiction recovery program in Western South Dakota. Wellfully’s current programs and buildings provide help for over 300 children per year, but as Board President Dan Maguire stated, “Wellfully has a waiting list of children to get into addiction recovery and family reconciliation center units.” Jeanne Maher, CFO, also noted that attendance to each of the programs has been steadily growing in the past years. Because the need for these services is so great, Wellfully has outgrown their current capacity, and is planning to build a new Premier Adolescent Care Center (pictured) which will expand the impact of the services to over 900 adolescents per year. The expansion will also include a public teen development program called Life Above and Beyond (LAB). This program will provide the opportunity for teens to gather, free of charge, and engage in constructive life skill building projects with peers of their own age. These projects could include computer programming, culinary arts, theater, music, photography, and much more. On August 1st, 2017, Wellfully broke ground at their new location on Waterloo Street. The organization has a goal of $5 million to build the Premier Adolescent Care Center and has already raised over $2.5 million towards that goal.
