Spearfish, SD– Due to the high demand Ketel Thorstenson has added two informational sessions to help employers understand the new Department of Labor overtime regulations. The additional sessions will take place on July 21 at the Spearfish Chamber of Commerce office located at 106 W. Kansas St.

The Department of Labor has released their highly anticipated final regulations for the overtime exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act. These regulations will change not only how some employees are paid, but in some situations how employers do business. It has been estimated that 4.2 million employees will be affected by the new regulations. Employers should be aware of the final regulations.

To help employers understand the requirements Amanda Dokter, Human Resource Manager with Ketel Thorstenson, LLP, is offering informational sessions. Each session will help area businesses navigate the current overtime exemption law, clarify the changes to the law, and discuss the considerations that need to be made. It will conclude with a question and answer period.

“Employers need to be aware of the final regulations and how each of their employees is affected. The new requirements are effective by December 1, 2016.  We want to help businesses understand the changes to the law and what steps they need to take,” stated Amanda Dokter, Human Resource Manager with Ketel Thorstenson, LLP.

The original sessions (announced back on June 13) will be held at the Ketel Thorstenson Rapid City office on June 28, 29 and 30 and are almost at capacity.

Attendees for the Spearfish sessions can choose either the 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. time slots on July 21. Sessions are scheduled to last one hour. There is no cost to attend, RSVPs requested by July 18 to 605-642-7676 or [email protected]. Space is limited.
