Hannah M Sheffield

CPA

Manager Tax Department

Accountants, tax accountants in particular, get a bad rap for being nerdy, introverted, and extremely particular, but that’s what makes us great for this job. And while all those may be true, Hannah is proof that accountants can be funny, outgoing, and impulsive too! There’s a great mix of both here at KT, which keeps the workdays fun and interesting.

Work hard, play hard is a motto Hannah lives by. She works hard during tax season preparing tax returns, training staff, and helping clients so that in the summer she can travel, golf, hike, and enjoy all that the beautiful Black Hills has to offer.

Hannah fell in love with tax during college and her love for tax resurfaced while she was studying for the tax portion of the CPA exams. She truly enjoys learning about tax law, completing more complex tax returns, and helping clients make the best of their tax situation. One of the best pieces of advice Hannah learned from Paul Thorstenson is to “take ownership and make believe it’s your own money.” When she does that, Hannah becomes more motivated to play around and find new ways to save clients’ money!

She loves KT because it’s a set expectation to do the best you can do for clients and colleagues. If Hannah ever has a question or needs help on something, there are multiple people she can go to for help. There are accounting jobs everywhere, but there is no other place like KT.

Personal

Like many of her colleagues, Hannah is a transplant to Rapid City. Originally from White, SD, Hannah grew up visiting the Black Hills with her friends and family and fell in love with the hills, the adventure, and the endless opportunities for fun. Hannah enjoys just about anything there is to do outdoors, golfing, hiking, playing sand volleyball, snowboarding, driving side-by-side, boating, and sitting on a patio with a good drink. Although she loves the opportunities the Black Hills provide, Hannah also loves traveling. One of her favorite places she has been is Granada, Spain.
