Manager Tax Department

Barbara joined KT after college and was an auditor for five years. Many of her audit clients were non-profits and construction. From there, she became the controller for two large, local construction companies for a combined six years. Barbara then came back to KT, joining the tax department while also doing some consulting work with local construction companies. Barbara has a well-rounded knowledge of the construction industry since she has worn so many “hats.”

She is currently working on better training for the KT staff involved with construction, training in Foundation software, and she has organized and presented at the firm’s Construction Lunch and Learn. Because of her non-profit experience, Barbara specializes in preparing and reviewing 990 forms. She thinks it is exciting to see the number of charitable organizations in our community. In addition, Barbara prepares and reviews individual and business tax returns.

Education

  • BS in Accounting – University of Wyoming

Professional Affiliations

  • American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
  • South Dakota CPA Society

Personal

Barbara is excited and nervous about the next phase of her life – becoming an empty nester with two daughters in college. She has opportunities to explore her interests outside of “just” being a mom and looks forward to hiking, reading, walking, training her dogs, doing home projects, and traveling. Barbara might also reconnect with her prior interests like music (piano, guitar, and singing) and pheasant hunting, and if her friends have their way, she will learn how to golf!
